BMW’s Mini brand has now refreshed it’s Cooper with a 2018 facelifted version on offer, priced at Rs.29.70 lakhs to Rs. 37.10. It was unveiled internationally this year earlier in January.
Like the outgoing model, the Cooper will be offered in 3-door, 5-door and convertible body styles. It will be offered with both petrol and diesel engine options, where the 3-door model gets both engine options but, the convertible will only come with a petrol engine and the 5-door with the only diesel engine.
Talking about the looks, there are quite a few noticeable changes in the 2018 Cooper. The headlamps and the tail lamps now get the LED lights with matrix LED high beams as an option. Tail lamps now get a Union Jack-inspired design inspired from the Mini Electric concept unveiled last year. There are three new exterior colours to choose from – Emerald Grey metallic, Starlit Blue metallic and Solaris Orange metallic – taking the total to 14 exterior paint shades. Additionally, petrol models get an optional exterior piano-black finish that replaces chrome touches around the headlights, tail-lights and radiator grille.

The ‘Mini yours interior style piano black Illuminated’ option adds a backlit interior surface on the passenger end of the dashboard, with Union Jack design. It is also offered with Led interiors and 12 ambient lighting options under the Mini Excitement pack.
This is not all that is on offer, there are more bells and whistles you can choose from, optional sunroof, a 6.5 inch touchscreen infotainment system and Mini wired pack which includes an 8.8 inch touchscreen infotainment system, navigation system, Mini’s connected apps, wireless charging, 2 USB inputs and a 20GB internal memory for media storage. Other media options include Apple car play and a 360W Harmon Kardon system with 12 speakers and an 8-channel digital amplifier.
One of the important highlights on the 2018 Cooper is the powertrain. On the Cooper S, 192hp/280 Nm, 2.0 litre, 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine will be mated to a new 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission which can be operated using the steering mounted paddle shifters. While on the Cooper D, 114hp/270Nm, 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder turbo diesel engine will be on offer, same as the previous model, mated to a 6-speed automatic which is also same. It will be offering 3 drive modes on both engine options, Standard, Green and Sport- which adjust the suspensions and engine settings based on the mode chosen.
