Volvo launches its smallest SUV, XC40 in India at an introductory fee of Rs 39.9 lakh (Ex-showroom, India). The auto made its world debut at the 2018 LA Auto show. To be slotted below the XC60, the XC40 SUV is the first mannequin to be built on Volvo’s new Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) platform. The car will be provided in one variant only, the ‘R-Design’. The new Volvo XC40 will pounce with the likes of the Mercedes GLA, BMW X1, and Audi Q3.
Speaking of the exterior, the XC40 SUV receives the signature sunken grille and company’s well-known Thor’s Hammer headlamps with daylight hours running lights. The easy creases drift all the way from the headlamps to A-Pillar. The auto will trip on 18-inch diamond cut alloys, provided as standard, whereas the R-Design badging adds a touch of exception for its buyers. At the rear, the vehicle would flaunt vertical boomerang-shaped LED taillamps with new C-shaped indicator lights. Dimensionally, it measures 4425mm in length, 1910mm in width, and stands 1659mm tall with a wheelbase of 2703mm.
The interior of the Volvo XC40 will welcome you with a black upholstery and including a distinction to the cabin, it receives lava carpeting and door inserts. The car will come equipped with a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wi-fi mobile smartphone charging, 12.3-inch virtual instrument cluster, panoramic sunroof, 13-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, two-zone local weather manipulate device and heated seats. For the safety, it comes with a host of radar-based security elements such as Volvo’s City Safety with steering assist, blind spot assist, lane preserving assist, self-sufficient braking, and adaptive cruise manipulate and for the passive 7 airbags.
Under the bonnet, the new Volvo XC40 will come packed with a 2.0-litre diesel engine that produces 187bhp of maximum energy and 400Nm of top torque. The engine will come mated to an 8-speed computerized transmission alongside with Haldex all-wheel-drive device and five specific pressure modes – Eco, Comfort, Dynamic, Off-road, and Individual.
