The 14th Auto Expo witnessed a variety of car launches this year, along with several other cars which were showcased now, but would be launched later in the coming years. BMW is one of the niche car makers, also came up with a range of vehicles. Here’s a look at their offerings this season.
6 Series Gran Turismo, or GT
This was a major attraction at this year’s Auto Expo and would be the second product to be launched under the GT badge. The car is priced at Rs 58.9 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the 630i petrol version; a diesel engine model will be introduced in the second half of 2018. On the front, active kidney grills flanked by grill touching dual barrel adaptive LED headlamps make it look edgier, while on the sides there is a heavily raked A-pillar and a coupe-like roofline which merges seamlessly with the tail of the car. The 6 series GT is based on BMW’s new CLAR (Cluster Architecture) platform, such that it has a long wheelbase of 3210mm, which further enables it to have a spacious cabin. In India, this vehicle is likely to get a 3.0-litre, inline 6-cylinder diesel engine producing 265PS of power and 620Nm of torque.
BMW M3 and M4
The German car-maker launched the new M3 sedan and M4 coupe in India at price of Rs. 1.3 crore and Rs. 1.33 crore respectively. The cars have received a face uplift, such that newer features like adaptive LED headlamps, dampers, light-weight seats, new exhaust systems with two tailpipes and 19” light alloy wheels has been added. The cars will take forward the M TwinPower Turbo straight-six engine, which makes 444 bhp at 7000 rpm, and provides a torque of 550 Nm. The cars can reach 250 kmph speed in barely 4 seconds.

The 6th generation of M5 series launched at Auto Expo 2018. The BMW M5 is priced at Rs 1.43 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi). It would also be the first ever vehicle with BMW M xDrive system with 2WD capability, which will allow the driver to easily switch between RWD and 4WD. On the exterior, the redesigned rear diffuser, side skirts, rear apron and spoiler, would give the vehicle a powerful sporting appearance. The engine of BMW M5 is the most advanced version of the 4.4-litre V8 engine featuring the M Twin-power Turbo technology with an output of 591 bhp and 750 Nm of peak torque.
