Nitin Gadkari, India’s Union, Road Transport and Highways Minister recently announced that cars will come fitted with the
number plates, work that was done by the Regional Transport Office (RTO) at the district level. This decision puts more work at the end of Car makers and makes the process smooth and hassle-free for customers, they won’t spend rounding up the office of RTO for car number allotment.
Price of registration of numbers plates on cars will be added to the final road price of the vehicle. The step is taken to bring more relief to the customer’s end i.e simplifying the process. This will bring uniformity in the price of registration plates, as the price till now is varying from 800 to 40000.
However, no mention of this decision to be applicable on two-wheelers around India.
Minister extended his talk by speaking on the issue of safety, security and pollution standards that needs to be maintained by car makers and are the critical factors that cannot be compromised.
