2018 has promised a lot of surprises for us but one of the most awaited and wanted surprise, the car that started gaining its fans from the day of Auto Expo 2016, where it was first unveiled to the people: The all-new Datsun Go Cross
Datsun has been famous as the company of less costly cars. This may be considered as taunting but actually, its praising cause only Datsun gas succeeded in launching extremely awesome cars at very reasonable prices but this time Datsun is upcoming with a non-expensive SUV that will surely give a tough competition in the market to many cars. Datsun Go Cross has been the company’s first ever attempt in the crossover space and it seems to be taking shape as the production version of the car was recently spotted in Indonesia.
The absence of both Nissan and Datsun at the 2018 Auto Expo provides a clear hint that the car might be previewed in India in March/April 2018. Jerome Saigot, Vice President, Marketing and Datsun Business Unit, Nissan Motor India had given a clue to the audience about this upcoming surprise earlier at the launch of Datsun Redi-Go 1L and hinted that it will be an affordable mini SUV. He created excitement among the people by his concluding statement that the car is in works and would be found running on roads by 2019.
But the latest news coming is that Datsun Go Cross got spotted for the first time and its looks are terrific.
Datsun Go Cross has looks that may make you confuse it with Datsun Go+ but when one spots its a plastic cladding with silver finishing touch, they come to know that it is far above it. The global model of the Datsun Go Cross will feature manual AC, a 6.9-inch touchscreen display for the infotainment system that supports Bluetooth connectivity, power windows. The leaked image shows the addition of rear parking sensor.
This was about the looks and internal features but a car’s real identity is described by its power, performance and the engine.
In Indonesia, Datsun Go Cross will get a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, petrol engine with a maximum power of 68hp and 104Nm of peak torque. The engine will be mated to a 5-Speed gearbox on the standard variant and expect an AMT or CVT gearbox also on offer. Airbags and ABS will be a pack of standard safety features on the car. The Indian model’s engine and features can be expected to be same.
Datsun still being a young brand in India may find a little difficult to compete with Auto Giants like TATA and Mahindra but with successful management of sales of Datsun Redi-Go, it has proved that it is no less and this upcoming Datsun Go Cross may take their reputation to next level. One can expect Datsun Go Cross to be priced aggressively between Rs 4.5 – 6.8 lakh.
