This time it’s not a car coming your ways. It’s an order coming from the central government regarding some important measures.
All the car manufacturers are hereby informed by the central government in advance that by FIRST OF JULY,2019, it will be a compulsion for all manufacturers to provide with airbags, seat-belt reminders, alert systems for speeds beyond 80kmph, reverse parking alerts, as well as manual override over the central locking system for emergencies. These are some of the basic and important measures which are going to implemented by Road and Transport Ministry of India.
Currently, in a country like India, only luxury cars have such features, which are crucial for the safety of occupants. If you see any valid report you would notice a major loss of our population, our countrymen due to road accidents and lack of such measures in regular cars. In 2016, speeding alone accounted for nearly 74,000 of the 1.51 lakh deaths in road accidents.
The new cars, after the order, that will be manufactured with a system that issues audio alerts when the speed crosses 80kmph. The alert will be sharper when the vehicle crosses 100kmph, and non-stop when it’s over 120kmph. Many people are questioning the need for reverse gear alerts! The answer to them is: To reduce the possibility of accidents while parking in reverse gear.
While we are still looking for alternatives and measures to reduce accidents by external changes, the developed countries are now focusing on material and model of cars to almost finish the accidents in their countries.
It is rightly claimed by global safety experts that
“no vehicle should be a death trap”
