Honda has launched the second-generation model of its Amaze compact sedan in India. The car costs Rs 5.59 lakh for the base petrol model and Rs. 8.99 lakh for the top diesel CVT model (ex-showroom).
The unveiling of the car at Auto Expo 2018 had created a lot of interest in prospective buyers. With a completely overhauled new look, it is extremely appealing at first sight. Inspired by larger versions of Honda cars, it looks more stylish and masculine now.

- The Second gen Honda Amaze is the first car in the country to offer a diesel CVT powertrain
- The Amaze is powered by 1.2-litre petrol engine with 90PS @ 6000 rpm
- The diesel will be the 1.5-litre with 100PS @ 3600 rpm

- The All-New Amaze offers an interior as fresh as the exterior
- The new Honda Amaze is based on new chassis which makes it lighter than the outgoing car.

It stands out amongst cars of the same category like Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Volkswagen Ameo, Hyundai Xcent and Tata Zest. Manual Transmission is available in all four variants – E, S, V and VX whereas CVT option will be offered in S and V variants only. Of course, both fuel options are available for all variants.

The standard features include air-conditioning, dual-tone interiors, piano black console, driver side auto down the window as also chrome grille with a thicker slat in the 2018 Honda Amaze. The refreshing changes which catches the eye are the redesigned Alloy Wheels and lovely Taillights. Coming to the specs now, both petrol and diesel engines are available. The petrol one is 1.2-litre IVTEC giving 87 bhp power and 110 Nm torque, whereas the diesel engine is 1.5-litre IDTEC with 99 bhp power and 200Nm of torque at peak performance. However, the diesel CVT will have 79 bhp power and 160Nm torque.
A CVT and 5- speed manual gearbox are the transmission options. A sporty experience is given by the paddle shifters of the Petrol-CVT version. Talking about fuel efficiency now, The Petrol Manual and CVT variants give 19.5 kmpl and 19.0kmpl but the diesel MT and CVT versions can attain a mileage of 27.4 kmpl and 23.8 kmpl !
