At a price of 2.55 crore, the Mercedes-AMG S-class Coupe is now on sale in the country. The German luxury car maker’s performance division now has 15 offerings in India.
The current generation of the two-door S-Class Coupe made its international debut in 2014. Since then there has been an endless wait for its arrival in the country. Initially, it was launched with a 5.5-litre V8 engine offering a total power of 585PS. The updated version of S 63 Coupe offered in 2017, however, has a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine making a maximum power of upto 612PS.
Although smaller in capacity it is far more powerful. Attaining a speed of 100kmph from start in less than 4 secs is a major feat of the powertrain due to 9-speed automatic transmission by the new engine of the S-class Coupe.
The youthful presence makes it look different from the S-class. Some exclusivity to the exteriors and viola what a sporty design!
The front bumper has been changed for the better and the new Panamericana front grille adds to the opulence. LED powered headlamps and tail lamps with Organic material layered illuminated glass plate treatment ( OLEDs ) complete the dashing looks.
Updated infotainment package
Compatability with smartphones and additional features on the infotainment front like Mercedes’ Comand infotainment system, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto Connectivity makes it better than the best.
Without compromising on the standard safety features it additionally offers Driving Assist Package and Active Steering Assist for enhanced and safer drive conditions.
Length doesn’t matter
We’re still waiting for the Cabriolet ( convertible ) version of the S-class to come to India. As of now this 2-door version S-class Coupe of the Mercedes-Benzs’ flagship sedan S-class is available right here in the country.
Slightly shorter in length than the S-class LWB ( S-class is 5.2 metre whereas the S-class Coupe is 5 metres), it is wider than the S-class at 1913 mm which makes it appear sportier compared to the others.
Not many rivals
Expectantly, BMW 8-series, launched just ahead of 2018 24 Hours of Le Mans might be a tough competitor for the Mercedes-AMG S 63 Coupe. Other rivals maybe Bentley Continental GT and Porsche Panamera Turbo but Audi and Jaguar may not stand against it as they do not have sedans to match the power of the S-class Coupe.
