Scientists and automobile engineers have been working together for years to transform our driving experience, and it won’t be a very long time when we’ll get see some cutting edge technologies being used in cars that too at affordable prices. Many concept cars have already been developed using some of these technologies that we’ll be talking about here. Let’s check out.
Traffic Sign Recognition:
Won’t it be awesome if your car can detect the traffic signs on its own and adapt to it, this might be possible in near future as some high-end models of Audi, BMW and Mercedes Benz have already incorporated this functionality in their cars, which makes use of front facing cameras and Navigation System to detect the road signs.
Some car manufacturers like Cadillac, BMW, Mercedes, and Volvo have already developed night vision systems to detect pedestrians or other objects that are out of range of the main headlights and thus help prevent collisions. These systems detect infrared light or amplify the available light to detect objects and vehicles.
Augmented Reality Dashboards:
Sounds like a science fiction movie, huh? But this might soon become a reality as some car manufacturers are developing augmented reality dashboards which will be able to identify the vehicles and other objects ahead of your car and give you directions to your destination, it’ll also help to prevent collisions and make your journey safer.
We all hate it when high beam headlights from a vehicle in opposite direction cause glare in our eyes. Car manufacturers like Mazda, Mercedes and Audi are working to develop headlights that detect oncoming vehicles and adjust the headlights so that the other driver does not experience glare. On the other hand, while traditional headlights illuminate the sides of the road while turning, intelligent headlights will illuminate the front of the road by swiveling the headlights.
Intelligent Braking System:
This technology will make sure that there are no more car crashes due to incorrect timing of brake application. The intelligent braking system will be engaged automatically without any input from the driver to prevent any possible collision, it’ll also warn the driver to avoid a rear end collision. Acura has already started working on this type of braking system.
Communication between vehicles! It might sound a bit unrealistic but engineers are working on a system to share information between cars, such as speed, direction, and plan the path accordingly. This type of system will make use of Wi-Fi to detect nearby vehicles and communicate with them. Ford is reportedly working on a vehicle to vehicle connectivity system.
Google has been working to develop a Self-Driving car and many US States have also made laws for the testing of independent or self-driving vehicles. Cars without steering wheel and pedals will soon be a reality as Google has already presented a prototype for such car in 2014.
All these technologies have already been implemented in many modern cars being launched almost every day, but some of these might not fit in your budget, for now, however it’s not very long when you’ll be able to buy vehicles with these technologies in your budget.
