It will be the first car in India with Ford’s Dragon series engine.
Since the time it was first launched in 2013, the EcoSport has been the bestselling car for the American Manufacturer. It is after four years and a few minor updates that Ford will be launching the new EcoSport facelift next month.
The new EcoSport is quite similar to the outgoing version in terms of looks. The front fascia is new and updated. It gets a single, new, horizontally slatted hexagonal grille flanked by new sharper looking headlamps, along with a redesigned front bumper and fog lamps. The rear and side profiles look similar with black body cladding running all over the lower half of the car. The old school tailgate-mounted spare wheel remains intact even with the new version.
As for the interiors, the basic cabin design remains the same, except the body-coloured inserts. The central console is new and redefined, which gets a touchscreen infotainment system. The infotainment system is expected to come with Apple CarPlay and AndroidAuto compatibility. The steering wheel and the instrument cluster have also been redesigned, giving it a fresh new look. Other features like automatic climate control, cruise control, and rear parking sensors and camera, ABS, EBD and 6 airbags are also equipped with the new Facelift.
The biggest update is the bonnet. The EcoSport will become the first car to get Ford’s new 1.5 -litre petrol engine. The three-cylinder motor is a part of Ford ‘Dragon’ family of engines and offers 123PS and 150Nm of power. The engine will either come with a 5-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic transmission. The 100PS 1.5 -litre diesel engine isn’t touched and will be carried over as it is. There is no confirmation regarding 1.0 -litre EcoBoost, whether it will remain on sale or not.
