Mahindra XUV 500, one of the most loved SUV, is all set to get an update this year. Mahindra has come with an up gradation and is currently testing on roads to validate any problems. Mahindra has announced that the 2018 Mahindra XUV500 facelift will be launched next month. The most prominent change in this refresh will be the addition of a more powerful iteration of its current AVL-developed 2.2-litre diesel motor. This will produce around 172PS of power, up from the 140PS that the present car produces.
Mahindra XUV 500 exterior design has been changed and the new SUV will come with reworked front bumper and grille while the headlights will receive LED daytime running lights. The rear side of the car will also receive new bumper with new LED light elements added to give a new look to the taillights. New wheel alloy will come up in the new model with extra body cladding.
Changes to the interior will include an upgraded infotainment system with Android Auto/Apple CarPlay integration, an ‘Ecoscore’ calculator, connected apps and an emergency calling function. ‘Ecoscore’ will monitor parameters like speed, gear selection, acceleration clutch use, braking and idling duration to urge buyers to be smooth and efficient in their driving style. There will be updated materials in the interior with better dashboard plastics and leather.
Since its first launch of 2011, XUV 500 has been the flagship model of the Mahindra passenger car line up. The car was a success for the first few years of its life but now faces tough competition from the Tata Hexa, Hyundai Creta and Renault Captur. This segment has seen so much growth in terms of buyers gamut of buying class cars. Factors influencing this segments are ruggedness, interior, exterior, High seat position and obviously driving condition. With this facelift, Mahindra & Mahindra hopes to keep the XUV500 competitive as it launches its new flagship – the badge engineered latest-gen Ssangyong Rexton that was shown at the 2018 Auto Expo.
