India’s largest car-maker Maruti Suzuki has released a teaser image of the concept it is set to unveil at the 2018 Auto Expo, in February. Called Concept Future S, the released image looks like the new car is going to be a uniquely styled compact car with aggressive styling. Maruti Suzuki has said in a statement “compact is beautiful, #ConceptFutureS beautifully carries forward this Suzuki slogan and creates its own positioning by breaking away from the conventional proportions of a compact car.” The new Concept Future S will be positioned below the Vitara Brezza in the portfolio and priced aggressively against the rivals.
Uniquely, the Concept Future S sports a flat horizontal hood and a near vertical A-pillar. This will help in more interior space and good visibility all around. The company states that a few design cues from the sketch reveal an upright stance, commanding higher seating and ground clearance, horizontal hood giving it a unique aggressive stance and posture.

The production version of Concept Future S is expected to hit markets by the end of the year. The Future S will be the only car to rival the Mahindra KUV 100. The production version of Future S is expected to be built on the Suzuki’s ‘Heartect’ platform that also underpins the Maruti Suzuki Baleno and new generation Maruti Suzuki Swift.
Although the company hasn’t revealed any specifications yet, the Future S is expected to have a 1.2-litre petrol engine and 1.5-litre diesel engine. The design team feels that Concept Future S epitomizes the next level of design evolution in terms of proportions, body sculpting and stimulating fusion of bold patterns and superior accent colours. It is a big step-up in design language and opens up new avenues.
